Distillery weddings · the Bourbon Trail

Weddings on the Bourbon Trail.

Kentucky's distilleries are some of the best-looking venues in the country. Limestone warehouses, copper, oak, and gardens. We know how to shoot inside their rules and still come away with the frames you want.

What's different about a distillery wedding

Distilleries are working facilities with real safety rules. Some areas are off limits, drones are usually out, and the light inside a rickhouse is dim and beautiful. We work it out with the venue before the day so we know exactly where we can stand and what we can fly, and we shoot the interiors with fast lenses instead of flash.

The payoff is texture. Stone walls, barrel heads, the glow off a still, a sunken garden going gold at dusk. It's a wedding that doesn't look like anywhere else.

Distilleries we'd love to shoot

Castle & Key in Frankfort, with its restored stone castle, springhouse, and sunken garden. Buffalo Trace, with a hundred years of brick and rickhouses. Copper & Kings in Louisville's Butchertown. New Riff on the Newport riverfront. The distilleries around Bardstown and Lawrenceburg along the Trail. If yours isn't on the list, we'll go look at it.

Good to know

Questions people ask us.

If your question isn't here, put it in the inquiry and we'll answer it there.

  • Usually we don't need to, and in some areas it isn't allowed. We shoot the dim spaces with fast lenses and keep whatever mood the venue already has. For receptions we bring small lights the venue has approved.
